Spring 2011:
Make-A-Wish Western New York Chapter
Mission: Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
The Western NY chapter volunteers are part of a nationwide network of nearly 25,000 caring people dedicated to making wishes come true. Although it has become one of the world’s most well-known charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has maintained the grassroots fulfillment of its mission to serve children with life-threatening medical conditions. Volunteers serve as wish granters, fundraisers, special events assistants and in numerous other capacities.
Some quick facts:
Between 2005 and 2009, on average, the Western NY Make-A-Wish Chapter has helped grant 142 wishes a year. That's a wish granted in Western NY every 2.5 days with 38% of them being granted in the Greater Rochester Region
The Kickball League of Rochester players helped raise $5,851 for the WNY Chapter of Make-A-Wish during the Spring 2011 season.
